‘n Lewende struktuur gebou met die natuur<\/h4>\n\n

Anders as tradisionele hout-krimpvarkiehuise, is Krimpvarkiekoepel ‘n lewende struktuur. Dit is geheel en al van natuurlike materiale gebou: lae grond, takke, blare en wortels, wat ‘n ge\u00efsoleerde kamer vorm wat die hele jaar deur droog, warm en veilig bly. Die buitenste laag is bedek met plante en mosse, wat ‘n selfonderhoudende mini-habitat skep wat naatloos met sy omgewing saamsmelt. <\/p>\n\n

Hierdie ontwerp boots die toestande van natuurlike krimpvarkneste na wat in die natuur voorkom, terwyl dit ook grondlewe, insekte en inheemse plantegroei ondersteun. Die resultaat is nie net ‘n skuiling nie, maar ‘n klein ekosisteem; een wat beide die krimpvark en die omgewing waarin dit leef, bevoordeel. <\/p>\n\n

‘n Proeflopie vir waarneming<\/h4>\n\n

Krimpvarkiekoepel dien as die eerste gemonitorde proefhol in Nederland. Wildkameras word gebruik om waar te neem hoe krimpvarkies en ander klein diere oor tyd met die struktuur omgaan. Die beeldmateriaal en data wat ingesamel word, sal help om die hol se ontwerp vir toekomstige installasies te verfyn en waardevolle insig te bied in krimpvarkiegedrag in semi-wilde omgewings. <\/p>\n\n

Die proeflopie is deel van The Hedgehog Program se groter missie om veiliger, meer natuurlike habitats vir krimpvarkies te skep in ‘n land waar hul getalle aanhou afneem.<\/p>\n\n
