Die Party vir die Diere Zaanstad staan \u200b\u200bagter die veldtog en vestig die aandag op die kommerwekkende status van hierdie beskermde dier. Partyvrywilligers het vandag ook Zaanstad se eerste krimpvarkiekoepel gebou.   <\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>Die krimpvarkie is &#8216;n beskermde spesie en leef hoofsaaklik in parke, bladwisselende woude en beskutte (tuin) gebiede met oorvloedige plantegroei, heinings en struike. Hulle is lief vir slordige plekke onder blaarhope en takke waar hulle kan wegkruip en slaap. Oor die afgelope dertig jaar het die aantal krimpvarkies in Nederland gehalveer. Na raming word 135 000 krimpvarkies elke jaar deur motors doodgemaak. Krimpvarkies vrek ook aan voorkombare oorsake soos verdrinking in damme, vergiftiging deur slakpille en insekdoders, botsings of beserings deur robotgrasmaaiers wat snags laat loop word. Krimpvarkies sukkel ook weens &#8216;n gebrek aan insekte. Dit is die gevolg van die verdwyning van groen; tuine en openbare ruimtes word toenemend geplavei, ook in Zaanstad.      <\/p>\n\n<p>Met die konstruksie van die krimpvarkiekoepel het die Pluktuin Jagersveld &#8216;n nuwe habitat vir krimpvarkies gekry. Die krimpvarkiekoepel bied verskeie neskamers vir krimpvarkies en is gebaseer op &#8216;n natuurgebaseerde ontwerp wat geen onderhoud benodig nie. Behalwe dat dit krimpvarkies &#8216;n veilige hawe bied, dien dit ook as &#8216;n lewende mikrohabitat wat verskeie dierspesies, insluitend insekte, bevoordeel.  <\/p>\n\n<p>&#8220;As krimpvarkies swak vaar, sal insekte, grondlewe en groen ook daaronder ly. Krimpvarkies is &#8216;n noodsaaklike deel van ons plaaslike natuur, maar hulle word letterlik van die kaart afgevee,&#8221; s\u00ea Stella Pieterson, leier van die Party vir die Diere (PvdD). &#8220;Met ons krimpvarkie-veldtog wil ons inwoners van Zaan bewus maak dat ons ons &#8216;tuinhelpers&#8217; verloor tensy ons nou dringend optree.&#8221; <\/p>\n\n<p>Die Party vir die Diere doen &#8216;n beroep op inwoners om hul tuine krimpvarkie-vriendelik te maak en gevare te verminder. Deur plaveiselstene met groen te vervang, blare vir nesmateriaal te los en &#8216;n &#8220;krimpvarkie-snelweg&#8221; (klein openinge in heinings) te skep, sal krimpvarkies die ruimte h\u00ea wat hulle nodig het.
