Standard

The hedgehogs that fall within the standard price category are hedgehogs with a European background and a dark eye color. This includes hedgehogs with dark ruby eyes, which may be a red eye in genetic color, but options appear very dark to almost black. The colors consist of the following:

  • Standard
  • Grey
  • Brown
  • Black
  • Chocolate
  • Slate Blue
  • Lilac
  • Cinnamon
  • Fawn
  • Copper

These hedgehogs can be Pinto, Silver or Roan, where this does not affect their eye color. An above hedgehog with Reversed Pinto and therefore bright red eyes will fall under the price category for red eyes.

Red eyes

The hedgehogs in this price category have recognizable light to medium ruby eyes or bright red eyes. The following colors are covered:

  • Cinnicot
  • Apricot
  • Champagne
  • Blonde
  • Albino
  • Reversed Pinto (if red to ruby eyes)

American

Some hedgehogs may be of American background. These hedgehogs are imported for a considerably higher amount and this is passed on by breeders to the breeders who then buy from them. In our hedgery we have two all-American hedgehogs, from two American imported hedgehogs. That is why we also use a different amount for these hedgehogs, in order to be able to compensate the costs of the imported animals. However, the chance that these animals will be sold as pets is very small.

Pension

Sometimes when our animals become too old or too related, we may choose to give them a new home. This doesn't happen very often, because we don't like to just get rid of our animals when they are no longer usable. But sometimes this may be necessary for a specific reason. These are generally animals that are a bit older, for example an older male who is too related and has to make way for a new male. Or a young hedgehog under the age of one year, which does not fully grow out as we would like to see for a hedgehog we want to breed with. These animals then move for a reduced amount, so that as pets they can still live a nice life in a new home.

Platinum

Platinum hedgehogs can sometimes develop health problems. Often these are minor inconveniences such as a weaker immune system. This can make them more susceptible to infections from bacteria, viruses or fungi, for example. However, the vast majority of hedgehogs in this color do not have any health problems. We have these hedgehogs moved for a low amount, because the vet costs can sometimes be higher than you would normally expect with a hedgehog. These risks are therefore extensively discussed with the new owner. We try to avoid this color scheme as much as possible, but sometimes it can appear unexpectedly in a litter, because it is a recessive color that can be carried over generations and it is not always clearly visible that a hedgehog carries this color. Fortunately, the color is hardly available from us.
