Introduction
Volunteering with The Hedgehog Program is about taking action, in the field, in your community, or alongside partner organisations, to protect hedgehogs and their habitats. Whether you’re helping to collect data, improve habitats, or share knowledge, your contribution has a direct impact. While we are currently developing our own volunteer projects, this page will also feature opportunities from trusted partners so you can get involved right away.
What volunteer work entails
Field work & monitoring
Assist in collecting valuable data on hedgehog populations and behavior. This may include recording sightings, setting up monitoring equipment, and helping to identify potential threats.
Habitat improvement
Take part in creating and maintaining safe spaces for hedgehogs. Activities may include planting native vegetation, building shelters, and making gardens or green areas more wildlife-friendly.
Education & outreach
Help raise awareness in your community by sharing knowledge about hedgehogs and biodiversity. This could involve giving talks, helping at events, or supporting educational activities for schools and groups.
